Overview

Alpha lipoic acid is a non-essential, sulphur-containing fatty acid that occurs naturally in the body. It is both fat-soluble and water-soluble, which is how it can cross the blood-brain barrier and act in the central nervous system. Alpha lipoic acid is involved in various processes in the body. These include energy metabolism, the redox system (antioxidant system) and detoxification processes. It helps with sleep and regeneration.

For our ALA+, the alpha lipoic acid is "solubilised" in a special process. The absorption via the intestine is significantly improved and the transport into the cell interior as well as the mitochondria is enhanced.

ALA+ Liquid Essence by Wish-You-More

Alpha lipoic acid is an important component of the apparatus that converts glucose into ATP (energy) in our cells. It is a cofactor of pyruvate dehydrogenase and two enzymes of the citrate cycle. An adequate supply of alpha lipoic acid is useful for optimal glucose metabolism.

Furthermore, alpha lipoic acid is a critical component of the antioxidant system. This is because it regenerates depleted antioxidants such as vitamin E, vitamin C, coenzyme Q10 and glutathione.

Alpha lipoic acid supports sleep and regeneration. Our body has a circadian rhythm according to which functions, such as being awake or asleep, are aligned. What applies to our consciousness also applies to our organs. Even the liver needs to "sleep" sometimes. This is where alpha lipoic acid comes in, because it resets the liver's clock (along with other factors such as light or food intake) so that nutrients can be utilised or new glucose can be formed (gluconeogenesis) at the right times.

Solubilization ensures more efficient absorption

The solubilization technology used in ALA + increases the availability of the active ingredient. By liquefying (solubilizing) with the help of medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) and lecithins, a transport medium is formed, optimising absorption in the intestine. Thus, the active substances are efficiently absorbed by the body and transported via the bloodstream directly to the site of action, which is the cell membrane and the cell interior (mitochondria). Apart from the natural substances (MCT oil and lecithin), no other additives are needed for solubilization.

For more mitopower: Integration into existing product line

In combination with the intake of Wish-You-More B-Vitamin 120 and Wish-You-More Ubiquinol, our Liquid Essence unfolds its maximum effect - the strong regenerative power of this universal antioxidant helps the body to give B-vitamins and Q10 enzymes more power in the fight against free radicals!

Maximum power and minimum regeneration time for athletes

In combination with intensive sporting activity, our Liquid Essence ALA+ unfolds its full power. It has positive effects on endurance performance, power development, regeneration time and weight reduction. A current application observation of the Sports University Cologne shows improved regeneration and performance during strength training when taking ALA.  It was found that the addition of alpha lipoic acid immediately after intense athletic activity shortens the regeneration time normally required by the body.

The history of alpha lipoic acid

Alpha lipoic acid was first isolated and named in 1951 by Lester Reed. Prior to that, it was discovered in 1937, that a certain component from a potato extract is necessary for the growth of bacteria on an artificial nutrient medium.

The therapeutic use of alpha lipoic acid dates back to the 1960s. Even then, it was used in Germany for tuber leaf fungus poisoning and accompanying symptoms of diabetes (diabetic polyneuropathy). However, the actual potential of lipoic acid remained undiscovered for a long time. This changed abruptly a few years ago when vitamin researchers discovered the outstanding antioxidant properties of lipoic acid.

Recommended intake

Dosage

Fill a sealable drinking bottle with 0.3 to 0.5 litres of still water. Next, add ten pumps of ALA+ to the water. Close the bottle and shake well for about ten seconds. The finished mixture can then be drunk immediately or within the next 2 - 3 hours. Do not exceed the recommended dosage.

Dietary supplement

Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. Food supplements are not a substitute for a healthy and balanced diet. Keep out of reach of children. Not suitable for children under 11 years of age. Store in a cool, dry place. Keep out of direct sunlight and heat.

Contraindications

Do not take if allergic to soy (soya lecithin).
